This past July I went to #BlogHer15 in New York and met some amazing women. Two of them, in particular, were a pair of ladies from Modern Table Meals. I had never been introduced to their products, but their colorful packaging and delicious samples lured me right into their booth.
Here’s the scoop – Modern Table Meals is a company that offers healthier pasta options. It’s true! That’s because their pastas are made from beans. Beans are low in fat, high in fiber and are considered both a protein and a vegetable.
I left BlogHer with one pasta sample and later connected with Modern Table Meals to chat some more. They were great – I love their family philosophy and the products they fully stand behind. They sent me 6 more pasta samples to try out. So far I’ve made two of their meal kits and have loved both of them. Hubby also approves.
- First, I paired the Mediterranean meal kit with a lovely piece of fresh grilled salmon. The combo was fab. The salmon flaked into the noodles which made for a delicious texture and flavor combination.
- Second, I made Homestyle Mac & Cheese. I’ll admit, I’m not a huge mac & cheese fan when it’s not homemade, but this meal kit hit the spot. It was the perfect quick lunch. I particularly liked the veggies; they added a much-needed crunch.
The next time I make my own pasta dish, whether it’s homemade meatballs or shrimp pasta, I plan to use the plain bean pasta from Modern Table Meals instead of a meal kit. And I already have my eye on their Teriyaki meal kit. The noodles intrigue me.
While I don’t have my own children, I have to imagine that these pasta varieties are great for families. I’m interested in making the bean pasta and comparing it to regular pasta for a true sense of flavor differences. As someone who’s always on the hunt for healthier options, I think these pastas will continue to have a spot in my pantry.
